About Me
“Kia ora my name is Katie Dobson and have always loved being involved in sport, play and physical activity. I have two daughters (aged 8 and 10 years old) and I want to contribute back to ensure that they have every opportunity to participate. I have a very good understanding of how the sports sector operates (I have been a Physical Education teacher for the past 18 years) and have worked in a local Regional Sports Trust. I am extremely passionate about removing barriers, making sports, physical activity and play accessible to ALL. I believe sports, play and active recreation are a powerful vehicle to support the development of essential life skills, strengthen social connections and help to build a sense of belonging, which ultimately can bring communities together. I have experience in governance, currently sitting on two boards; Hobsonville Point schools board and West Coast Rangers Football. ”
